Various things to note about traveling in Japan.

Cash, cards and currency exchange
・In Japan, the use of credit cards is widespread, but cash may be necessary in small shops or rural areas. In major cities and tourist spots, card payments are convenient, but having cash on hand is reassuring.
・Cash can be exchanged at airports, banks, and exchange offices in major cities. A convenient method is to use ATMs at post offices or convenience stores to withdraw cash with an overseas-issued card. Japanese yen coins and bills are easy to use, especially handy for small purchases and vending machines.
Tips
・There is no tipping culture in Japan.
Public Safety
Japan is a country that boasts top-class safety in the world, making it a very safe place for travelers. The crime rate is low, and public transportation and tourist spots can be used with peace of mind. Lost items often return, and the abundance of kind citizens is also an attraction. Nighttime walks are relatively safe, but be sure to stay aware of your surroundings just in case.
Clothing
The clothing for traveling in Japan varies depending on the season and the region you visit.
In spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), the temperatures are mild, and light jackets or layering are convenient.
In summer (June to August), the humidity is high and it is muggy, so breathable clothing is recommended, but it is reassuring to bring a light jacket for air-conditioned indoor areas.
In winter (December to February), the cold varies by region, and in northern Japan and mountainous areas, thick coats and winter gear are necessary.
Since there are many opportunities to walk in tourist spots and temples, comfortable walking shoes are suitable. Also, there are dress codes for religious sites and hot springs in Japan, so check them as needed.
Things you should bring with you
Folding umbrella or raincoat: The weather can change easily, so be prepared for sudden rain during the rainy season or summer.
Stomach medicine, cold medicine, regular medications, etc.: Bring them if necessary. They can be purchased at Japanese pharmacies, but the variety may be limited.
Power plug adapter: Japanese outlets are Type A (100V), so a conversion adapter is needed for foreign electrical appliances.
Visa availability and arrangements
Visa requirements vary by country, so please check the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs page or similar resources yourself.
