Born into a family of tourism guides, I have nurtured a passion for travel and sightseeing since childhood. I began my career as an operations manager at a cruise company, later transitioning to an airline ticket manager, and eventually moving into trip planning and arrangement. Since my first visit to Iceland in 2014, I have been consistently captivated by its charm. Currently, while arranging self-drive tours, I also serve as a group tour leader for trips to Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland. When planning a trip, the most important balance for me is ensuring that while visiting as many places as possible, there is also ample time to relax and truly enjoy each destination.

I was fortunate enough to work as a guide in Iceland, which allowed me to discover some of the most beautiful and remote locations in the country. With nearly 10 years of experience in the tourism industry, I specialize in curating tailor-made journeys across Iceland. I offer a diverse range of travel styles, including self-drive tours, private guided road trips, glacier and volcano tours, aurora watching, hiking, and day trips. My passion for travel began in high school, and since then I have lived in Mexico, Australia, and Iceland, traveling around the world. Experiencing various cultures and landscapes only deepened my love for travel, ultimately paving my career path in the tourism industry. I truly enjoy helping many people achieve their ideal Icelandic adventure!

What kind of country are the Faroe Islands?

Located between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic, the Faroe Islands are a group of 18 islands under Danish sovereignty, situated close to Norway and Iceland.

Featured in Western travel magazines as "the world's most coveted islands," the Faroe Islands offer breathtaking nature and a pastoral lifestyle to experience.
The capital city, Tórshavn, where over 40% of the population resides, is located on the largest island, Streymoy. Streymoy also features the remote village of Gjógv nestled in a cove, the majestic Kaldbaksfjørður fjord, and offers cliff cruises in Vestmanna.
Known as a bird paradise, especially for puffins nesting during summer, Mykines Island and Vágar Island, famous for the dramatic cliffs surrounding Sørvágsvatn Lake where the water appears to flow into the sea, are must-visit spots.

The islands are connected by underwater tunnels, allowing you to travel between them by car while enjoying the magnificent natural scenery.

During the high season, the Faroe Islands attract many tourists. It is recommended to arrange rental cars in advance.
Immerse yourself in a journey of breathtaking landscapes nurtured by the beautiful yet rugged nature of the Faroe Islands.

Things to know about traveling to the Faroe Islands.

Cash, Cards, and Currency Exchange
- The Faroe Islands have their own currency called Faroese króna. While the design differs, its exchange rate and usage are equivalent to Denmark's currency, the Danish krone (dansk krone), abbreviated as DKK or kr.
- Currency exchange is available at local airports and banks, but Faroese króna cannot be converted back to yen in Japan, so it's best to carry only what you plan to use.
- Similar to Denmark, credit card payments are common even for small amounts, so carrying large amounts of cash is unnecessary.
Tips
- Tipping is not customary in the Faroe Islands.
- For room cleaning or porters, a tip of around DKK 5 is appropriate, and for special requests to concierges or doormen, DKK 10–20 is a guideline. Note that some toilets may require payment.
Safety
- The Faroe Islands are known for their relatively stable and safe environment.
Clothing
- Summers are cool, and winters are relatively mild for the latitude.
- The average temperature throughout the year is around 15°C. Weather changes frequently, so adjustable clothing is recommended.
- Prepare waterproof clothing and shoes with non-slip soles to suit various activities.
Things to Bring
Multi-plug, regular medication, mobile battery, travel insurance, warm clothing
Visa Requirements and Arrangements
- Entry requirements for the Faroe Islands are the same as Denmark. - Japanese nationals do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days for tourism or non-income-generating business trips.
Currently, travel is permitted with just a passport. The introduction of the travel authorization system 'ETIAS' is planned for 2025.
The passport must have a remaining validity of more than three months from the planned departure date and must have been issued within the last ten years.
Required Vaccinations
・There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
