Cash, Cards, and Currency Exchange

- When exchanging money, it is recommended to prepare US dollars in advance. There are more places where you can exchange US dollars than Japanese yen, and the rates are better.
- You can withdraw cash using international cards from ATMs located in Kyrgyz airports and cities. Withdrawing from ATMs can also help prevent crimes such as being overcharged at exchange offices.
- Most stores in Kyrgyzstan accept credit cards, but small shops and taxis may not, so it is recommended to use a combination of cards and cash.

Tips

- Tipping is not very customary.
- It is good to give a small tip to those who have helped you, such as hotel staff or guides.

Safety

There is a risk of riots, terrorism, police attacks, demonstrations, and crimes involving firearms, so caution is necessary.
- Avoid actions that may lead to crime, such as walking alone at night, carrying large amounts of cash, or following strangers.

Clothing

- Summer: Temperatures rise to around 30°C, so Japanese summer clothing like short sleeves is appropriate. However, as temperatures drop to 10-15°C in the mornings and evenings, it is recommended to prepare long-sleeved shirts or cardigans.
- Winter: There are days when temperatures range from 0-10°C even during the day, so sufficient winter clothing like down jackets or thick coats is necessary.

Visa Requirements and Arrangements

- Japanese nationals do not need to obtain a visa if the stay is within 60 days.
- If staying for more than 60 days, it is necessary to obtain a visa in advance from the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Japan or other relevant offices (for purposes such as diplomacy, official business, investment, labor, education, business, tourism, etc.).

Required Vaccinations

・There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
- However, vaccinations for hepatitis B, tetanus, rabies, tick-borne encephalitis, etc., are recommended.
