Koh Tao, with its clear, high-visibility sea and sandy beaches, is said to be the most beautiful in Asia.
This island, floating in southern Thailand, is a very small island measuring 7 km north to south and 3 km east to west.
It is one of the world's top diving destinations, captivating tourists from all over the world.
A hidden island with no airport
Koh Tao does not have an airport.
Therefore, the only way to land on Koh Tao is by ferry.
There are several routes to Koh Tao, such as via Koh Samui, but I took a bus from Bangkok.
I went to Chumphon, where the ferry port is located, and it takes two hours by high-speed ferry to Koh Tao.
The air conditioning on this ferry was too strong, making it extremely cold, so don't forget your warm clothes if you're taking the ferry!
A diving mecca attracting divers from all over the world
In fact, Koh Tao is a diving mecca.
If you're lucky, you can encounter wild whale sharks, not just those fed by humans!
Not only can you see large creatures like manta rays and whale sharks, but the high-visibility sea allows you to see many fish, attracting divers from all over the world.
There are diving shops run by Japanese, so you can feel at ease even if you don't speak English.
I took the opportunity to stay on a 3-night, 4-day plan to obtain a diving license.
A diving license is recognized worldwide, so you can use it no matter which country you obtain it in.
It's cheaper than obtaining it in Japan and you can practice in beautiful seas, so it's highly recommended!
Of course, experience dives without a license are also possible.
Unfortunately, I couldn't meet a whale shark, but there were plenty of fish in the sea.
When I held my palm up in front of my body, some fish came close, and it was very cute.
The time spent playing with sea creatures felt just like becoming a mermaid. With so many fish, you're sure to get hooked on diving!
A Western-style resort atmosphere
Koh Tao is an island visited by many tourists, essentially a tourist island.
There are resort pools, and Westerners lounging on the beach, creating a resort-like scenery.
There are also Japanese food restaurants, and missing Japanese food, I had a katsudon on Koh Tao!
At night, the beach takes on a lively atmosphere, and suddenly a fire dance began on the beach.
The excitement was overwhelming. Even without diving, you can enjoy the island's stunning views and atmosphere without getting bored.
The sunset is beautiful at dusk
You can also see a beautiful sunset on the beach at dusk.
Even the stray dogs living on the island are enchanted.
Why not visit to spend a leisurely and elegant time?
