Where is Tsavo National Park located?

There are 59 national parks and reserves in Kenya.
Tsavo National Park is located in the southeastern part of Kenya (red-framed area) and is one of the largest parks in the country, divided into east and west sections.
The east is about the size of Fukushima Prefecture, and the west is about the size of Akita Prefecture, making it very vast!

An unbelievable number of wild animals

As soon as we entered the park, we were greeted by a family of ostriches.

We immediately received a baptism of the wild.

Additionally, zebras, giraffes, lions, impalas, African elephants, black rhinos, and more, You can greet up close animals that you can only see behind bars at a zoo.
Seeing animals freely roaming such a majestic land made me feel like I could never go to a zoo again.
The surrounding soil is red, so the animals are also tinged red, which is interesting.

I heard from a local African elephant researcher that African elephants play a very important role in Kenya's ecosystem.
This is because African elephants travel 100-200 km a day and defecate 20 times, which becomes nutrients for the soil and helps grow the forests in this area.
These important creatures are estimated to disappear from the earth in 50 years.
We want to protect both elephants and forests while humans and animals live together in harmony.

This is the Lilac-breasted Roller, said to be the most beautiful bird in Africa.
It's truly colorful, and its round eyes are cute!
With roughly 1000 species of birds in Kenya, it's perfect for birdwatching.

Baobab Tree

You can also see unusual vegetation.
Some may think the baobab tree, famous from 'The Little Prince,' can only be seen in Madagascar, but you can also find it in Kenya.

There are also trees with many cacti growing on them and trees with bird nests hanging like Christmas decorations. Plant enthusiasts will enjoy it too.

Nature that must be protected

Despite being surrounded by such rich nature, the park has been exposed to human development until today.
Railways have been laid nearby, forests have been cut down, and animals' habitats have been taken away.
Knowing such past and background, when you look around the park, the scenery before your eyes may seem more valuable.
