The pleasant savanna and lake of Lake Nakuru National Park

I am a university student who studied abroad in Kenya!
This time, I would like to introduce Lake Nakuru National Park, which is famous for its large flocks of flamingos and is registered as a World Heritage Site!
It is one of my recommended national parks as a place where you can enjoy the scenery of the lake and the rich wildlife at once.

Lake Nakuru National Park

It is located in Nakuru County, 160 kilometers north of the capital Nairobi.
The feature is that there is a soda lake.
You may have an image of safaris in the vast savannah, but here in Lake Nakuru National Park, there is a large lake, and various kinds of birds and animals come in search of its acidity.
It is also about two and a half hours by car from Nairobi, making it easy to access.
You can also go on a day trip.

Wildlife in the Great Rift Valley of Africa

As I left the big city of Nairobi, I was greeted by the African scenery of small mountains, sunken terrain and savannahs.
Nakuru National Park is part of the World Heritage Site of Kenya's Lakes in the Great Rift Valley, and you can enjoy the spectacular nature as you head to the park.
Along the way, we were able to see goats and donkeys, which are part of the everyday scenery in Kenya, as well as wild animals such as gazelles, buffaloes, and baboons.
Even before you arrive at the park, you will be greeted by nature and animals, so your expectations will be higher and higher.

When I heard from my classmates that I could see a large flock of flamingos, I was excited to go into the park.
The first thing we discovered was a zebra.
It was sitting in the middle of the road. smile
Since it didn't seem to run away even when approached, I observed the zebra up close.
I was impressed by the beautiful stripes on the toned body.

I was surprised by the wild animals that continued to appear one after another.
There were truly many animals living there, including Uganda's national bird, the Grey Crowned Crane, as well as giraffes, gazelles, rhinos, hippos, baboons, warthogs, pelicans, and even flamingos.

What about flamingos?

Originally, I went with the purpose of seeing a large flock of flamingos, but it seems that the number of flamingos has drastically decreased in recent years, and I was only able to see about 20 of them. Crying.
It is important to go at the right time, and I would like to try again.
If the timing is right, the lake will be dyed pink.
Although it ended in a disappointing result, I am satisfied because I was able to see a large number of pelicans up close.

After seeing various wild animals, the driver took us to a scenic spot with a panoramic view of Lake Nakuru, and the Lake Nakuru National Park tour concluded.


There are many creatures that live in the lake, and I was able to experience different scenery and smells from the national parks I have visited so far.
Only Lake Nakuru National Park can you see the lake and wildlife together!
