Hello! I am a university student who studied abroad in Kenya.
This time, I would like to introduce my favorite, Nairobi National Park.
What is Nairobi National Park?
Nairobi National Park is located in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, as its name suggests.
The charm of this place is undoubtedly its accessibility.
Just a 20-minute drive from downtown Nairobi, and the savannah unfolds before you.
Another feature is the unique sight of a bustling metropolis as the backdrop to the wildlife.
You can witness the fascinating scenery where nature and man-made structures blend together.
A diverse array of wildlife living in the city
The first thing I spotted upon entering the park was a buffalo.
It was looking at us with a curious face from the water's edge.
It has a cute face, but it's very ferocious and is one of the animals most feared by the people of Kenya.
Next, I saw a herd of gazelles.
They were gracefully running with the skyscrapers of bustling Nairobi as their backdrop.
For me, seeing gazelles running with skyscrapers in the background makes me feel like I'm truly in Kenya.
Then, two giraffes appeared right in front of me.
They stood on both sides of the car, and their overwhelming size was truly exciting.
I was also able to see rhinos with their young, zebras, and hippos up close.
It was moving to witness animals I've only seen in zoos truly living in the wild right before my eyes.
Lion, King of the Beasts
The driver received information via radio that another car had spotted a lion, and we quickly headed to the location.
Since Nairobi National Park is relatively small, it doesn't take much time to move between points within the park.
Therefore, by obtaining such information and rushing to the spot, the chances of encountering carnivores, which is difficult in other national parks, increase.
We arrived at the discovery site and were able to safely see a female lion resting in the shade of a tree.
We approached to about 3 meters with the car, but it showed no sign of noticing us, allowing us to fully enjoy the adorable sleeping scene.
After seeing the lion, the day's tour came to an end.
Or so I thought, but on the way back to the gate, we encountered three female lions heading out to hunt!
Their dignified appearance was the very image of animals living powerfully in the wild.
A safari spot that everyone can enjoy effortlessly
And so, the tour truly ended.
I was very satisfied to see a wide variety of wildlife, from animals symbolizing strength like lions and rhinos to leisurely living giraffes and zebras.
Near the gate, there are also an orphanage and a nature trail, so those who felt unsatisfied are recommended to visit them.
This national park allows you to fully enjoy a safari even in half a day, making it easy for busy people visiting Kenya on business to enjoy Africa's great nature.
Just a short drive from downtown Nairobi is a luxury experience where you can feel the breath of wildlife in the savannah.
If you come to Kenya, I hope you can feel the wildness of Africa even in between your busy days.
And if you've been on safari in another national park but still have regrets, Nairobi National Park is the place to be.
You can go around quickly, and the chances of meeting carnivores are high.
Please be sure to see the robustly living wildlife up close at Nairobi National Park, which is adjacent to the capital, Nairobi!
