I have been working at a travel agency with over 13 years of experience.
My passion for travel began early on. Thanks to my French and Spanish heritage, I was able to explore various cultures and languages.
After living in Ireland and Spain, I moved to Sicily and started working as a guide for trekking tours in the Aeolian Islands and Mount Etna. This led me to plan personalized trips for those who want to truly explore Italy.
I specialize in custom trips throughout Italy, focusing on Sicily, the Amalfi Coast, Naples, Puglia, Rome, Venice, the lakes, and Tuscany.
I excel in planning food and wine tours, diverse adventures, and classic tours, aiming to create unforgettable experiences for all visitors.

What kind of country is Malta?

Malta, a small island nation consisting of multiple islands in the central Mediterranean.
The main islands are Malta, Gozo, and Comino, and it is a small country with an area only about half the size of Tokyo's 23 wards.

It is said that people have lived there since the Stone Age, and due to its location, it had already prospered during the times of Carthage and the Roman Empire. Having also been under the rule of the Islamic Empire, unlike Japan, which is also an island nation, it has walked a complex history under the control of various countries.
Although it is a small country, Malta, surrounded by a beautiful blue sea, has many wonderful spots worth visiting.
The capital city of Valletta is located in the eastern part of Malta and is known as a fortified city. It is a UNESCO World Heritage town that retains historical sites built by the Knights of St. John. On the island of Gozo, the Ġgantija Temples feature stone structures that are said to be among the oldest in human history. Together with several other stone structures on the island of Malta, they are collectively recognized as the Megalithic Temples of Malta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Despite being a small island, the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, an underground burial site created around 2500 BC, has also been preserved, offering scenery reminiscent of a movie set. This site is also designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In the beautiful country of Malta, which has woven a long history despite its small size, please take the time to enjoy a moment away from your daily routine just for yourself.
If you consult with a local coordinator on Oooh, you can surely create a custom-made trip packed with everything you want to do.

The capital of Malta. Located on the Sciberras Hill in the eastern part of Malta Island, it overlooks the harbor below. It was named in the 16th century after the Grand Master of the Knights who successfully defended the city. The city is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features buildings showcasing various architectural styles from the time of the Knights Hospitaller onward. There are museums where you can view relics of the knights, as well as an art gallery displaying Caravaggio's masterpieces, 'The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist' and 'Saint Jerome.' There is plenty to see and explore.

Things to consider for a trip to Malta.

Cash, cards and currency exchange
The currency in Malta is the Euro. Credit card payments are widely accepted, and the availability of electronic payment options is increasing. However, for small amounts, typically under 5 Euros, cash is often used.

Currency exchange can be done at airports or exchange offices, but it is recommended to bring a certain amount from Japan, including small-denomination bills.
Tips
In Malta, it is customary to tip 5–10% if you receive satisfactory service.
However, if a service charge has already been added in advance, there is no need to pay it.
You are free to tip individually when you receive good service, but since it depends on the facility, make sure to ask before giving a tip.
Public Safety
In general, public safety is good, and violent crimes are rare, but incidents of pickpocketing, theft, and car break-ins have been reported. Be mindful in crowded areas such as downtown districts.
Clothing
Winters are slightly warmer than in Japan, and summers have similar temperatures to Japan. However, the humidity and sunlight differ, so your perception of the weather may vary slightly.
Dressing similarly to how you would in Japan is fine, but it can get chilly in the mornings and evenings or depending on the weather, so it's recommended to bring an extra layer or wear adjustable clothing.

Additionally, since the sunlight is strong, it's a good idea to have sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
Things you should bring with you
- Multi-plug adapter, regular medications, mobile battery, camera, travel insurance, sun protection items, etc.
Visa availability and arrangements
A visa waiver agreement has been established between Japan and Malta, so visas are not required for stays of up to three months for purposes such as tourism or visiting acquaintances.
Malta is a member of the Schengen Agreement. Therefore, the total stay in Schengen countries is limited to a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period. Additionally, you must have a travel document (passport) that is valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure date from the Schengen area and was issued within the last 10 years.
Required vaccinations
There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
However, travelers from countries with a risk of yellow fever and those who have transited for more than 12 hours in such countries, who are over 9 months old, are required to present a yellow fever vaccination certificate (Yellow Card).
