Oman's Climate and Best Season
The best time to travel to Oman is during the cool season from November to March.
During this period, temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C, providing a comfortable environment ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities. The winter months from December to February are particularly popular, making it an ideal time to visit deserts, coasts, and mountainous areas.
On the other hand, from April to October, many regions experience intense heat, making it generally an unsuitable time for tourism. However, in the southern region of Salalah, the monsoon known as 'Khareef' brings cool and lush landscapes, offering a unique experience.
Overall, the period from November to March is the most recommended time to fully enjoy the charms of Oman.

Cash, Cards, and Currency Exchange
The local currency is 1 Omani Rial. There is a sub-currency called Baisa, and 1000 Baisa equals 1 Omani Rial.
Major hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops accept major cards such as Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Be aware that many places do not accept JCB.
It is advisable to exchange local currency from the stable rate of the US dollar, so it is recommended to bring a certain amount of US dollars from Japan.
Tips
In restaurants and hotels, service charges are generally included, so tipping is not necessary. If the service charge is not included, it is recommended to pay about 10-15%.
If you make special requests to porters or drivers, it might be good to give a small tip.
Safety
Oman's security is considered relatively good, but various theft crimes occur, so caution is necessary. In the past, there have been reports of small cameras being attached to ATMs to steal PINs, so be careful when using ATMs.
Additionally, crimes targeting women, such as sexual assaults, have been associated with taxis, so it is wise to avoid hailing taxis.
Clothing
As is typical in the Middle East, it is hotter than in Japan, so light clothing is desirable. However, like other Islamic countries, excessive exposure should be avoided, especially for women.
Air conditioning is often excessively strong indoors, so having a jacket is reassuring. Sun protection is also advisable.
Things to Bring
Multi-plug, regular medication, mobile battery, travel insurance, sun protection items, SIM card (Note: calling functions like LINE, WhatsApp, and Facetime are blocked by government regulations and cannot be used).
Visa Requirements and Arrangements
Japanese nationals are exempt from visas for short stays (such as tourism) of up to 14 days after entering Oman.
For immigration inspection, you must have a passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity, a return flight ticket, and a hotel reservation confirmation.
Please note that if you enter without a visa, you cannot extend your stay or change to another visa category. If you exceed the stay period, you will be fined, so please be careful.

Required Vaccinations
There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
However, travelers from countries at risk of yellow fever and those who have transited for more than 12 hours in Rwanda and Tanzania in Africa, who are over 9 months old, are required to present a yellow fever vaccination certificate (Yellow Card).
Things to note during your stay
Please note that calling functions like LINE, WhatsApp, and Facetime are blocked by government regulations and cannot be used.
In the city, shops have weekends on Friday and Saturday, and many are closed on Friday mornings due to prayers. Also, many shops temporarily close in the afternoon to evening on weekdays.
During Ramadan (the fasting month), refrain from eating, drinking, and smoking in public places, including outdoors, during the day. If caught by the police, detention is possible.
