The ruins of León Viejo, said to be the oldest city from the Spanish colonial era and a World Heritage site. Managua, the capital, is filled with attractions such as the Rubén Darío Theater, the Cultural Palace, and the black statue made of tin of Sandino. The León Cathedral, a World Heritage site known for its Antigua Guatemala Baroque architecture, was built over many years starting in 1747. The Caribbean coast offers spots for surfing and diving, as well as the Corn Islands. Ometepe Island offers volcanic trekking.
