When it comes to winter in Scandinavia, it's all about the 'Aurora'. The sight of the curtain of light named after a goddess dancing in the winter sky of Scandinavia, powered by mysterious forces sent from the distant sun, is something you should see at least once in your life.

While the aurora, which is impossible to see in Japan, is easier to spot in the Scandinavian winter, it is not guaranteed. In recent years, solar flare activity has been intense, making the conditions for aurora occurrence relatively favorable, but to see the aurora, it's best to move around as much as possible with an experienced guide.
This sample plan includes many private tours to make the aurora easier to see, combined with unique Arctic experiences like dog sledding during the day and whale watching in the Atlantic.

Centered around Tromsø, a beautiful city known as the Paris of the North and a base for aurora observation in Northern Norway, and Alta, known for its low rainfall and as a town of the indigenous Sámi people, you can enjoy experiences that are not possible in Japan.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1

Tromso
The journey begins in Tromsø, the largest city in northern Norway.
Tromsø is popular in both summer and winter, but it is also a beautiful city called the Paris of the North as a base for various activities such as aurora sightseeing and skiing in winter in Norway.

Travel from the airport to your hotel in a separate transfer vehicle.
After checking in at the hotel, take a short walk around Tromsø to feel the Nordic winter. You can also enjoy shopping, so if you feel that you don't have enough protection from the cold, it is recommended to go shopping.

In the evening, go on a private Aurora Chase tour.
Weather and other natural factors change where you can see the Northern Lights, and where you can easily see them, so you may not be 100% able to see them, but an experienced guide will guide you privately so that you can see as much as possible.

Afterwards, return to the hotel for a good night's sleep.

Day 2

Tromso
After breakfast at the hotel, you'll enjoy the Norwegian fjords and majestic nature by yacht and car.

Hop aboard a warm and comfortable private yacht and cruise the winter Atlantic Ocean through the beautiful fjord coastline and the islands of southern Tromsø before visiting the village of Eidskjosen. From the village, you will change to a car and visit various photo spots while enjoying the beautiful sight of the mountains shining beautifully in the snowy landscape.
You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Norway, including the two fjords.

After returning to Tromsø in the evening, you'll embark on another private Northern Lights tour. An experienced guide will pick you up and take you to places where you might see the Northern Lights.

Day 3

Tromso to Alta
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to the airport by a transfer vehicle.

Travel from Tromsø to Alta on a flight of about 40 minutes.
Alta is located quite high in northern latitude, but it has a surprisingly mild climate compared to places at the same latitude. It is also known as a place where you can learn about the culture of the Sámi indigenous people of Scandinavia, and the rock paintings painted in the old days as Alta rock paintings are a World Heritage Site.
Transfer from the airport to your hotel by transfer.

There are no buildings around the hotel that can cause light pollution, and you can enjoy the Northern Lights in front of you in the quiet and beautiful forest.

In the evening, we will go on a private aurora tour again.

A private tour also allows you to get closer to your dog. You can participate actively, or you can participate in a rather willing-looking way.

At night, you will take a tour to enjoy the Northern Lights in the way that the Sámi people used to enjoy.
Hop aboard a reindeer-drawn sleigh and go around the spots where you can see the Northern Lights around Alta.
During the tour, you can also enjoy the traditional jolk of the Sami people, Sámi songs, etc.

Alta
After breakfast at the hotel, you will enjoy whale watching, a unique experience of the winter Atlantic Ocean.

It seems that humpback whales are often the ones to appear, but if you're lucky, you might also encounter orcas and other creatures. Please enjoy the winter sea, which is different from that of Japan.
After the approximately 6-hour tour, please return to the hotel and relax at your leisure.
