Recommended travel points

Lithuania and Poland, two countries rich in nature, have been influenced by the cultures of various nations throughout their long histories. Their medieval townscapes, reminiscent of scenes from picture books, convey history and culture and are registered as World Heritage Sites. Both countries experienced significant destruction during World War II, but through human effort, they were rebuilt and have become vibrant cities that attract many tourists today.

This sample plan takes you on a tour of Lithuania's World Heritage modernist architectural city 'Kaunas,' the capital 'Vilnius,' Poland's capital 'Warsaw,' Chopin's birthplace 'Żelazowa Wola,' and the vast Wieliczka Salt Mine, a must-see tourist destination in Poland.
You will also visit facilities where you can learn about what happened during the war, such as the Sugihara Chiune Museum in Kaunas and the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland.
In general, visits to historical sites and city walks are planned with a Japanese-speaking guide. You can also experience public transportation together with the guide.

This is a sample plan that combines classic sightseeing spots in Lithuania and Poland with war relics that can only be seen locally.
You should be able to catch a glimpse of countries that have nurtured a history completely different from Japan.

If there are other attractions or experiences you are interested in, feel free to customize your plan, so please do not hesitate to contact us.

Detailed itinerary

  • Day 1

    Kaunas, Lithuania

    Vilnius → Kaunas

We will travel by car from Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, to Kaunas, the second-largest city.

Together with a Japanese guide, we will explore the city of Kaunas, using public transportation along the way.
Until World War II, the town of Kaunas, which flourished as the largest city in Lithuania, became a temporary provisional capital and experienced explosive development. Due to this history, it has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a city of modernist architecture. Visitors can explore spots such as the cobblestone old town, Kaunas Castle, and City Hall, and also stop by the museum of Chiune Sugihara, the diplomat who served during World War II and was known as the 'Schindler of the East,' a story that was also made into a movie.

Żelazowa Wola village is located about 60 km west of Warsaw and is the place where Chopin was born in 1810. Although the original house no longer exists, a reconstructed building, restored down to its interior, is now open to the public. The surrounding area is a garden where you can reflect on Chopin's 19th-century era while admiring the weeping willow branches dipping into the stream and the blooming flowers.

After that, we will visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine, where mining continues to this day. As a major source of national income in Poland, salt mining has been ongoing for over 700 years. As a result, the total length of the tunnels is approximately 300 km, the number of cavities created after mining exceeds 2,000, and the deepest part reaches 327 meters, forming a vast underground mining site. It is a fascinating place created by humans continuously excavating the natural rock salt left behind by nature.
