Cash, cards and currency exchange

・Exchange currency by obtaining US dollars in Japan beforehand and exchanging them for Metical at the local airport. It is advisable to prepare small denomination US dollar bills.
・After the trip, even if you have leftover Metical, the exchange rate for re-exchanging is very poor, so it's best to exchange cautiously.
・Credit card payments are also possible. They can be used in most hotels and shopping malls, but often not in individual shops. US dollars and South African Rand are also in circulation, so be sure to prepare cash.

Public Safety

・The security in Mozambique cannot be considered good. Rapid economic growth has widened the gap between rich and poor, leading to frequent occurrences of various crimes such as robbery, kidnapping, sexual assault, burglary, and car theft.
・To avoid becoming a victim of crime, refrain from entering dangerous areas, avoid walking alone at night, and avoid flashy clothing or expensive accessories to prevent becoming a target.

Clothing

・During the day, summer clothes or a lightweight long-sleeve shirt to prevent insect bites are generally sufficient. However, it gets chilly in the mornings and evenings, so a thick jacket is essential. During the rainy season, having a raincoat or other rain gear is convenient.

• Items such as stomach remedies, cold medicine, a mobile battery charger, insect repellent, and sun protection supplies.

Visa availability and arrangements

・Japanese nationals do not need to obtain a visa for short stays of up to 30 days for business or tourism purposes. Multiple entries and exits are possible within the allowed stay period.
・Additionally, if there is a valid reason, the stay can be extended beyond 30 days. For extensions, please apply at the local immigration office or through their website.

・There are no mandatory requirements for travel. However, the following vaccinations are recommended.
