Cash, cards and currency exchange

- When exchanging for local currency, you can get a better rate in Singapore than in Japan.
- Locally, you can exchange currency using credit cards at airports, city banks, exchange offices, hotels, and ATMs.
- In Singapore, credit cards are accepted at most stores, and considering the benefits of discounts and perks available in various travel scenarios, they are an essential item.
In small shops and stalls, there may be cases where only cash is accepted, so it's advisable to carry some cash even in small amounts.

Tips

There is generally no tipping custom.
In restaurants and hotels, some people leave tips for good service or for the porter who assisted them.
Additionally, if the change is just a small amount of coins, some people choose not to take it and leave it as a tip.

Public Safety

Singapore is a relatively safe country with good public security compared to other foreign countries.
Be cautious of petty crimes such as walking alone at night, pickpocketing, and scams.

Clothing

Since Singapore has summer-like temperatures throughout the year, summer clothing is generally sufficient.
When visiting mosques or other temples, avoid wearing revealing clothing out of respect for the various religions.
It's useful to have a shawl or a light cardigan to wear for overly air-conditioned indoor spaces or for sun protection.

Visa availability and arrangements

Japanese nationals can stay without a visa for tourism, business, diplomatic, or official purposes for up to 14 or 30 days. In principle, a return or onward ticket is required for departure from Singapore.

Required vaccinations

・There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
To prevent common infectious diseases, vaccinations for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and tetanus are recommended.
