Various things to consider when traveling to Cyprus.

Cyprus climate and best season

The best time to travel to Cyprus is in spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November).
Spring from March to May has mild temperatures of 15 to 25°C, making it an ideal season for sightseeing and hiking, with lush nature and flowers to enjoy.
Autumn from September to November is also comfortable, as the sea is still warm and tourist spots are less crowded than in summer.
On the other hand, summer from June to August sees temperatures rise above 30°C, making it ideal for those who want to enjoy beaches and water sports.
Winter is cool and mild with temperatures of 10 to 17°C, allowing for quiet sightseeing or skiing in mountainous areas. Each season has its charm, but if you prioritize comfort and a wide range of activities, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are especially recommended.

Cash, cards and currency exchange

The currency used is the Euro.
You can exchange money at local airports, hotels, and banks, but it's recommended to bring some from Japan.
In the city center, many shops accept credit cards, but it's safer to have cash when traveling to rural areas.

Tips

Generally, service charges are often included in hotel and restaurant bills.
If a service charge is not included at a restaurant, leave about 10% as a tip.
If a taxi driver or porter helps with large luggage, giving around €1 is appreciated. Also, offering a gratuity for guides or special services is welcomed.

Public Safety

The security in Cyprus's cities, including the capital Nicosia, is relatively good. However, in urban areas, there are incidents of theft, burglary, and being overcharged at bars, known as 'rip-offs.' Therefore, ensure basic crime prevention measures.
In Northern Cyprus, there are still areas where safety is not guaranteed, so caution is needed when traveling there.

Clothing

It is often slightly warmer than in Japan.
However, due to significant temperature variations throughout the year, bringing a light jacket is useful.

Multi-plug, regular medication, mobile battery, travel insurance, jacket, etc.

Visa availability and arrangements

There is a visa waiver agreement between Japan and Cyprus, so for short stays of up to 3 months for tourism or business, a visa is not required upon entry.
For long stays of more than 3 months, please apply for a visa.

There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
