Cash, cards and currency exchange

・Credit cards can be used in most shops in Cambodia, but they may not be accepted in small shops or local stores, so it's essential to have cash ready.
・The generally accepted cards are Visa, Master, and JCB.
・Currency exchange to Riel cannot be done in Japan, so make sure to do it at local airports, banks in town, hotels, or exchange offices.

Tips

There is basically no custom of giving tips.
In restaurants, even in high-end establishments, it is unnecessary if a service charge is included.
It is acceptable to give about US$1 to 3 per day to guides or private drivers.

Public Safety

Be very cautious of petty crimes such as bag snatching and pickpocketing.
In areas with many tourists, some people may try to overcharge you or sell drugs, so be careful not to follow anyone who approaches you.

Clothing

Throughout the year, clothing similar to Japanese summer attire is sufficient, but it's reassuring to have a light cardigan or long-sleeved shirt for overly air-conditioned indoor spaces or sun protection.

Things you should bring with you

・Stomach medicine, cold medicine, mobile battery, tissues, wet tissues, insect repellent items, sun protection items, etc.

Visa availability and arrangements

It is necessary to obtain a visa that matches your travel purpose.
For tourism purposes, you can apply online using the e-Visa system to enter the country.
Holders of Japanese diplomatic or official passports are allowed to enter without a visa for stays of up to 90 days. If staying longer than 90 days, procedures should be carried out at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia.

Required vaccinations

There are no mandatory requirements for travel.
